@backyardaquaponics, Thanks a lot, i? will do that.

backyardaquaponics January 28, 2012 at 4:56 pm

@pommyrooter ? Very much so. if you visit permaculture research institutes website and search the forums for aquaponics you will find lots of interesting discussions.

@TheMontanahouse The irrigation pipe allows solid matter to be spread around the perimeter of the bed. all solids being pumped into the one spot can cause? build up.

TheMontanahouse January 28, 2012 at 5:57 pm

Why do you have the irrigation pipe around the perimeter of the growbed? If you just had a pipe filling the growbed? at any single point, wouldn’t the water fill the entire bed evenly? It just seems like the extra pipe in the growbed is a unnecessary. Am I overlooking something?

pommyrooter January 28, 2012 at 6:32 pm

I was just wondering could Permaculture and? Aquaponics be in anyway compatible.

@akhenatn You don’t have to use expanded clay, you can use many? different types of rock media including things like river gravel, pea gravel, crushed basalt or blue metal.

akhenatn January 28, 2012 at 10:58 pm

thats a lot of expanded clay, how much? you spend on one bed setup?

hirocaster January 28, 2012 at 11:56 pm

7:05 can you explain to me the output of the expanded clay tank? Is one pipe inside of another, but the water comer over the larger pipe? I saw another video of aquaponics using auto siphon, but yours seems to be different.

Also, what pipe cutter are you? using in this series?

Very interesting videos, I’m trying to find similar tanks here in Brazil to start my aquaponics with Tilapia! Thanks!

backyardaquaponics January 29, 2012 at 12:37 am

We have used expanded clay pebbles,? you can also use many different rock media like gravel etc.

free6006 January 29, 2012 at 12:40 am

That’s good. Can I ask a question because? I can’t catch some of your words. What is kind of thing you put in the sink? brown stones? Thank you.

It saves more water and is more effective if you punch some holes in the bottom of the bag and filling it with water.? Then just pore it in the system after your done that way you ensure and even and more consistent way to clean them pebbles . Good video thanks.
